Hurawalhi Showcases the Finest Young Maldivian Musicians
Nothing says ‘a holiday in the Maldives’ like unwinding at a chic lounge bar with your darling, wallowing in the affection and the romantic atmosphere the sparkling pool and the starlit sky create. To add even more magic to your evenings, Hurawalhi proudly showcases talented Maldivian musicians every weekday at Coco Bar.
Monday – Wildfire Duo
The two-piece band, guitarist Shifattey and singer Zaleef, have been performing as Wildfire Duo for two years. Zaleef, who came fourth in Maldivian Idol season 1, finds great pleasure in collaborating with Shifattey, an experienced musician known across the country for his gigs with various artists. An evening of good vibes with mellow, chill-out music, including your song requests.
Tuesday – Equatic Vibe
The successful result of five childhood friends getting together to jam and combine their passion for music, Equatic Vibe impresses with own and cover songs that range from upbeat, progressive rock to jazzy, romantic tunes – a perfect mixture of Shammu, Amyn, Mabi, Shinantey and Hussain’s individual creative personalities. The cheery, fun-loving, energetic band has incredible chemistry on stage you’ll certainly love. Lend them your ear also during the General Manager’s cocktail before dinner.
Wednesday – Fazeel
Fazeel Khaleel is a talented saxophonist, keyboard player and singer who ensures a memorable backdrop to your evening. Fazeel’s music – smooth, jazz-inspired Maldivian and international hits – is in tune with how you feel at Hurawalhi: serene, relaxed and tenderhearted. Be it songs by Ed Sheeran, Adele or Zero Degree Atoll, we always marvel at Fazeel’s ability to put a unique spin on them, often making them better than the originals.
Thursday – DJ Vifak
The Maldives’ most renowned DJ has been living and breathing music since childhood. His cousin’s record collection, handling playlists at house parties, own console and the first resort gig in 1998 planted the seeds of what is now an international DJing and producer career. Vifak has the feel good factor written all over him – his choice of tracks is uplifting, energetic and perfect for you to let your hair down and go a little wild on the dance floor.
Friday – Fatheen
Possessing an amazing voice, Fatheen used to play in a band but now performs solo, bringing you acoustic versions of all-time favourite songs. Music has been Fatheen’s companion since a very young age, and it is our pleasure to give him an opportunity to present his talent to the resort’s audience.
Sunday – Shallow Atoll
Music runs through Nish Nashid’s veins, with her voice and passion creating a pleasant atmosphere at Coco Bar that the team and guests thoroughly enjoy; backed up by Mohamed Yoosuf on the guitar, the song arrangements are just perfect!
These talented young musicians as well as the bodu beru ensamble that performs at the Maldivian night – albeit varying in style – have one thing in common: they’re the cherry on top of your already harmonious days at Hurawalhi.
