Hurawalhi’s bartenders have perfected the art of mixology and will expertly prepare anything from a classic martini to one of their favourite creations.
Meet our mixologists…
Suranga learned to mix drinks, and tend bar, back in his home city of Colombo, Sri Lanka and carries the title of most senior bartender on the island. If you’re looking for experienced hands, and a quick history of the Hurawalhi beverage program, then this is your guy. He started working at our sister resort, Komandoo Maldives, as a Bartender in 2010 and moved to Hurawalhi In 2016 for preopening.
Hendrik’s Gin and Fever Tree Tonic with a few cucumber slices is his preferred beverage. The original Negroni, which is also the cocktail that receives the most repeat orders, is his preferred recipe. Suranga is a master at making clinically sound decisions. Touché Suranga, touché!
After successfully introducing Asian’s cocktail program to the Kashibo bar, Ishan has now set his eyes on making infused cocktails using homemade syrups. If you ask him, he’ll tell you that Kaffir Lime infusion is the most underrated flavour in cocktail making, and that great bartenders have a story for every single cocktail they make – feel free to test this by ordering a different cocktail each time and asking for the story! Ishan started his carrier working as a bartender in Oman in 2013 and joined Hurawalhi 2016 as a Bartender on the preopening team.
His preferred beverage is none other than what has brought him much fame in Negombo, Sri Lanka, where a cold pint of beer is the drink of choice. However, the Far-East cocktail, which is the most popular infused drink at the Kashibo Bar, is his favourite to make.
