In Maldivian language, Dhivehi, Katheebu means island chief. Back in the day, every Maldivian island had its own Katheebu, a leader, a guardian, and a voice of wisdom who stood at the heart of island life. The cocktail draws inspiration from that legacy, a drink that’s bold, refined, and distinctly Maldivian at heart.

It begins with a chilled glass, symbolic of calm authority and composure. Into this vessel of cool confidence flows infused gin, the soul of the drink. It’s followed by the radiant hue of fresh orange juice, representing warmth and vitality, and the lychee syrup, which adds a soft, tropical sweetness reminiscent of island abundance. Ingredients

• 40 ml infused gin
• 30 ml fresh orange juice
• 30 ml lychee syrup
• 30 ml sweet & sour mix
• Crushed fresh mint leaves
• Garnish: Dried orange slice

Ritual

• In a shaker, combine infused gin, orange juice, lychee syrup, sweet & sour mix, and crushed mint.
• Shake well and strain into the chilled glass.
